2019 and 2018 were iconic years in bridal fashion, as some of the world’s most stylish women tied the knot with their famous spouses. From Hailey Bieber to Priyanka Chopra, we chart the most memorable brides.
1.Priyanka Chopra
The Bollywood darling tied the knot to Nick Jonas in December 2018 dressed in an exquisite Ralph Lauren gown . The custom piece featured long sheer sleeves, a high neckline and was paired with a veil bigger than a New Yorker apartment.
Designed by Ralph Lauren himself, the ornate detailing on the dress was made up of thousands of Swarovski crystals and sequins, with an intricate and beaded finish over the entire dress. Priyanka’s gown has fans swooning all over the world for its unique design and perfect balance between simplicity and glamour. That is why it has made it to the top of our list.
2. Hailey Baldwin
Being a young bride of the world’s most famous pop star, Hailey wanted a wedding gown that represented her chic and youthful personality. The super-model got married to Justin Bieber in South Carolina just in October last year. Hailey’s custom made dress was designed by one of her favourite street wear designers Virgil Abloh. Hailey said that street wear is an important part of her self identity, she was set on choosing someone who wasn’t a wedding dress designer. When describing the gown, Abloh said “ For Hailey, I wanted something fun and youthful but still traditional. What I think is most important for her on this day is showcasing the woman that she is.” Hailey’s classical long lace wedding dress, combined with street motifs such as the pearl Off-white arrows ,makes it a one-of-a -kind piece. Abloh also worked with 10 other people to create a 10-metre-long veil that features the phrase” Till do death us part” in bold letters.
3. Sophie Turner
Sophie Turner’s wedding dress was completely different from Priyanka’s and Hailey’s. The British actress opted for a more modern look with a custom made dress by Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, as she was the ambassador for the French fashion house. The Louis Vuitton design featured a low V neckline, square shoulders and long lace sleeves, low back with a wide sash belt, culminating in a voluminous embellished skirt. It was created from flower-embroidered tulle and silk gazar with leather satin details. The material of the dress had shiny gold beads and glitter. On the big day, Sophie wore a lace double tiered veil and her hair in loose waves to complete the bridal look. Her makeup consisted of her signature soft smoky eyes, rosy complexion and nude lips.
4. Karlie Kloss
Karlie Kloss married Josh Kushner in an intimate New York city wedding on the 8th of October 2018. Karlie’s classic A line gown was a Dior custom by designer Maria Grazia Churi. The Dior gown, which took 700 hours to make, was simple, elegant and showcased delicate French lace. However, the real show stopper was the long train and “big old fashioned” veil, which trailed gracefully behind her every step. The bride bursted into tears when she saw her dress for the first time, she said “"When I was a little girl I always loved the idea of a fairy tale wedding but I never imagined I would have the chance to have a fairy tale wedding. It's really surreal for me, because I've walked in your shows and walked on this runway, this is a Dior gown made for me”. The Victoria Secret model wore an off-the-shoulder prairie dress as a second dress during the reception.
